Digital Health Monthly: Scientific Webinar Series

Sensor-based DHTs are shedding an illuminating light on how people function in their real-world environments. Drug developers, researchers, patients, and regulators are realizing the multifaceted value sensor-based DHTs can bring to clinical research.

As their adoption continues to grow, the ActiGraph team is excited to continue ‘Digital Health Monthly’, a monthly series of science-focused webinars to share the latest high-impact developments in clinical research from innovators in the digital health field. Each month, we feature brief data-driven presentations from clinical researchers, data scientists, and biostatisticians on a focused topic with dedicated time for audience Q&A. We believe that together, we can move the digital health technology field forward faster, and we are excited for this opportunity to facilitate important discussions on the latest research with members of the digital health community.

Beyond Weight Loss: Measuring Critical Health Outcomes in GLP-1 and Related Obesity Treatments

GLP-1 weight management therapies have dramatically changed the landscape of obesity treatment, offering effective treatment to hundreds of millions of people who are overweight or obese. However, consequential effects on body composition that can negatively impact functional activity and physical fitness have been reported. To date, there has been insufficient characterization of these important health outcomes beyond weight loss, and a lack of detailed characterization of physical activity’s impact on treatment efficacy.

In this session of Digital Health Monthly, Dr. Glenn Gaesser shares data from his extensive research on the relationship between obesity and exercise physiology, particularly the importance of physical fitness and activity as meaningful health outcomes beyond weight loss. Dr. Sylvain Zorman presents details on the new DECODE-Obesity working group, which focuses on applying unique and valuable data from wearable digital health technology to better inform trial design and health benefits of novel obesity treatments.
