Digital Health Monthly: Accelerating DHT Research and Drug Development with Open-Source Big Data from Population Studies

Digital Health Monthly: Scientific Webinar Series

Sensor-based DHTs are shedding an illuminating light on how people function in their real-world environments. Drug developers, researchers, patients, and regulators are realizing the multifaceted value sensor-based DHTs can bring to clinical research.

As their adoption continues to grow, the ActiGraph team is excited to continue ‘Digital Health Monthly’, a monthly series of science-focused webinars to share the latest high-impact developments in clinical research from innovators in the digital health field. Each month, we feature brief data-driven presentations from clinical researchers, data scientists, and biostatisticians on a focused topic with dedicated time for audience Q&A. We believe that together, we can move the digital health technology field forward faster, and we are excited for this opportunity to facilitate important discussions on the latest research with members of the digital health community.

Digital health technologies (DHTs) offer unprecedented opportunities to continuously and remotely measure a study participant’s function and behavior. Technology advancements are introducing more sensors and smaller form factors, but data capture relies on the study participant putting on the device. Even a low-burden, passive monitoring device could face adherence challenges in certain patient populations, for example, those with extreme fatigue, skin sensitivity, cognitive impairment, or fine motor impairments.

Overcoming adherence challenges requires dedicated effort during each stage of a clinical study to maximize data completeness. This effort is a key part of realizing the full value of DHT data in order to capture novel insights that can inform development of new and better treatments options.

In this session of Digital Health Monthly, we’ll be joined by digital health experts from Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, and Novartis who will discuss the unique challenges and nuances of collecting DHT-based data, sharing good practices and first-hand experience. Our team will share lessons learned as well as an overview of our novel capabilities to monitor adherence.

What you'll learn:

  • Why a DHT-adherence plan should not be an afterthought
  • The good, the bad, and the ugly on DHT adherence from firsthand experience
  • Real-life illustrations of adherence strategy tailored to each stage of a clinical study, from study planning to statistical analysis
  • An update on our capabilities to support trial sponsors with data completeness
